New York Times Article about Passive Houses in New York City
It’s great to see all of the Passive House (Passivhaus) construction happening around New York City as detailed in this New York Times article published yesterday. Check it out to learn more about some of the Passive Homes in NYC neighborhoods such as the Upper West Side, Cobble Hill, Harlem, Carroll Gardens, and Bushwick. As you may know by now, my wife and I are in the process of retrofitting our Ditmas Park home to Passive House standards. The costs to build to Passive House standards are very close to typical construction costs, and because these homes reduce the use of energy by nearly 75% in a city where 71% of carbon emissions come from buildings, it’s easy to see why more and more people are adopting the sustainable design.
